FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

When can we start carrying our baby in an Over the Shoulder Baby Holder?

One day old is a perfect time to start.  A baby fresh out of the womb loves the tight closeness, sounds, warmth, feel and movement of this familiar surrounding.  Babies tend to feel insecure when isolated in the western world's world of cribs, strollers, and mechanical swings that hold the baby "away".

Isn't the baby "squished up" in there, and his head looks crooked?

Remember your baby has been in the womb for nine months upside down in a "ball".  It's natural and comforting for your baby to be swaddled in his new "womb."  For new users, don't be afraid to simply lift your baby and reposition him or her.  For example, if his head is cocked, reposition it the same way you would if you only had him in your arms.

Can the baby fall out of it?

It's designed with a hammock effect which holds the baby secure.  Parents in various cultures do daily strenuous work carrying their children in this fashion.  As you become accustomed to wearing your baby you instinctively have a feel for how secure it is, and can carry your baby all day in a carefree manner.

How old can my baby be and still be carried in my Over The Shoulder Baby Holder TM ?

There is no real age or weight limit.  As long as you hold your baby in your arms you can use your sling.

  How safe are the buckles?

They are tested for over several hundred pounds.  The weight of the baby causes them to tighten much the way a seat belt tightens.  The nylon is not affected by the temperature of washing or machine drying.

  Can I wash my sling?

Yes.  It is recommended that our slings are washed on a gentle cycle in cold water and then hung to dry or air fluffed in the dryer.  Some sling wearers have found that by drying them on low heat in the dryer they can shrink since most of the fabrics are 100% cotton.  The first few times you may want to wash it separately since the fabric may bleed.

What kind of fabric is an Over the Shoulder Baby Holder made of?

Baby Holders are made of soft and cool 100% cotton material or mostly cotton.  They are less allergenic for sensitive baby skin.  The padding is flame-retardant polyester fiber fill.
